STOP HARMING WHALES AND DOLPHINS BY DETONATING LEFTOVER WWII BOMBS

USE NEW TECHNOLOGY TO ‘BURN THEM OUT’ QUIETLY AND SAFELY

It’s crazy to me that windfarm developers, aided by government regulations that are far too relaxed, are able to just blow up bombs that are left over from WWII. Of course, we need to be finding new ways of getting our energy, such as offshore wind power – I fully support that. It just seems completely nuts to me that we are allowing these giant explosions to cause considerable harm to some of our most precious whale and dolphin species when there is a viable alternative available, and a British inspired one too.”

The demonstration munition being dealt with in these videoclips is just 5kg of explosive. It’s not uncommon for real life munitions to have 500kg of explosive. Detonating 500kg of explosive produces a proportionally much greater blast than seen here with the 5kg demonstration munition. But even when dealing with 500kg of explosive, the new EODEX technique would produce the same small level of disturbance resulting from that with the small demonstration munition as the explosive is ‘burnt out’ rather than detonated
