thank you

I am so excited to share the wonderful news that the UK Government has updated its policy guidance to ensure that quiet, environmentally-friendly disposal techniques should be prioritised for offshore munitions disposal.

This is absolutely fantastic for the protection of whales and dolphins and no doubt has been driven by your continued support. Over 50 MPs attended our Stop Sea Blasts parliamentary event – thanks to you kind people for emailing in to alert them to this issue. It was here, at this event, that the Environment Secretary announced the change in Government policy.

I was delighted to deliver this petition to Number 10 Downing Street on Tuesday, alongside a letter of thanks to the Prime Minister for listening to our concerns.

There will of course be further details to examine, and work to ensure compliance, but this is a huge step forward for the benefit of our marine life. It is a common sense solution to the problem, and I am thrilled the Government can now see this.

I would like to thank you all, so much, for your support of the Stop Sea Blasts campaign and I hope you will share in the joy that we, through our collective efforts, have made this change happen.

With warmest good wishes,

Joanna
